Start with a real-life situation
Two roofs with equal area can fit different layouts. A narrow roof with a stair enclosure and cooling units is not an empty rectangle. Understand usable shape and space before choosing a larger module.

1. Use real dimensions
Use measured site dimensions and datasheet module dimensions. Check units: millimetres are not metres. Modules must not be visually shrunk to fit. Exclude unavailable zones before layout.
2. Shade changes with time
A noon photograph does not capture every condition. Trees, walls and neighbours cast different shadows by hour and season. Row spacing, tilt and orientation need a shade/irradiance assessment; one fixed spacing cannot suit every site.
3. Access and structural review
Assess load capacity, wind, snow, waterproofing, drainage and maintenance access. Agree shared-roof use. OAKEN studio supports initial geometric comparison; the responsible engineer approves installation design.
